Taurus and Sagittarius Compatibility: The Adventurer and the Lover

The Lover and the Adventurer – how does Taurus and Sagittarius compatibility work when one wants to stay in and play while the other wants to roam the world? These two signs have much to learn from one another, but ultimately they may be just too different to sustain a lasting relationship.

On the surface, there’s not much this couple has in common. The Taurus partner is cautious, affable and practical, but jealous and possessive, while the Sagittarius partner is reckless, optimistic, and blunt. Taurus priorities are a solid home and family life, and a successful career, but Sagittarius priorities are altogether loftier, involving a search for truth and justice, education and travel. Taurus and Sagittarius compatibility begins with an uphill struggle, as the two partners have to work hard to reconcile these quite different wants and needs.

That’s not to say that there isn’t an attraction here – there certainly is. Taurus in particular is very taken with the Sagittarius devil-may-care demeanour… as a fling. It’s all very exciting and stirring and dangerous and wonderful…and not at all what Taurus has in mind for the longer term. Sagittarius is attracted to Taurus too, although they don’t really understand why and would almost never admit that secretly they admire the Taurus partner’s common sense and stability! For Sagittarius and Taurus, compatibility initially may well lead to a passionate, fiery, sensual encounter, as the earthy sexuality of the Lover meets the exuberant expressiveness of the Adventurer, but that in itself is not enough to create a firm basis for a longer relationship.

If they hang around long enough, however, this couple will discover that they do have some shared values, notably a passion for honesty. Sensible Taurus doesn’t have time or inclination to dress things up or tell little white lies; Sagittarius, meanwhile, has a reputation for being blunt to the point of pain, although almost never with malice. There will be no secrets in this relationship, which you might think would be a good thing – and it is. The problem arises when there’s something which perhaps ought to be kept secret, but isn’t. The elephant in the room, for Taurus and Sagittarius compatibility, is infidelity.

Having multiple partners is not always that big a deal for Sagittarius, and Taurus compatibility is built upon trust and faithfulness – are we seeing an issue here? It’s not that Sagittarius means any harm, they’re just…expansive…with their sexual favours. Sag probably loves Taurus deeply, but freedom of expression for this fire sign includes the freedom to experiment elsewhere. Taurus, the Lover, will of course be devastated if the Adventurer is unfaithful. Taurus and Sagittarius compatibility won’t get past the first hurdle if that difference of attitudes isn’t ironed out. Unless of course the couple agree to an open relationship, but it’s a rare Taurus who could live with that kind of arrangement.

Assuming that Sagittarius agrees to remain faithful (or at least, discreet enough to not hurt Taurus), the relationship can move along well enough. Sagittarius will help Taurus to broaden their mind, and Taurus will help Sagittarius to appreciate the importance of roots and stability. At some point, however, Sagittarius will get restless. It’s not that he or she will want to leave Taurus – far from it, the Adventurer fervently hopes the Lover will go along for the ride – but Sag does need his or her freedom and will want to take flight somewhere. If Taurus can cope, great; if Taurus can’t cope, tough. Sagittarius will end the relationship if his or her freedom is in question, so for Taurus and Sagittarius compatibility, this can be the true deal breaker.

Should these two manage to deal with the ups and downs of their relationship, and to find a healthy balance between their different natures, it can be a very educational experience for them both. When stubbornness learns to yield, and when restlessness learns to calm down, true love can conquer the inherent Taurus and Sagittarius compatibility problems. The only question is: will the partnership last long enough for them both to figure this out?
